Workforce development is about building the knowledge, skills, and effectiveness of the people who help drive a business, an industry, and ultimately an economy. It’s founded on the belief that you just can’t have a great business without great people. Much of agriculture is struggling to have enough great people right now.
I’m glad to partner with Agri-Service LLC to bring a new workforce development opportunity to the mid-Atlantic dairy industry. We’re kicking things off with a technical skills training program focused on keeping more newborn dairy calves alive and getting them off to a good start in life. The event will be delivered in both English and Spanish with speakers of both languages learning together, more details in Flyer which is linked above. Looking ahead, we’re planning on more technical training events and also kicking off leadership and supervisory training events.
This program is designed to be the start of a self-sustaining, industry-driven workforce development program that addresses technical and management development. Industry supporters include: Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania (PDMP), Boehringer-Ingelheim, Elanco, Sporting Valley Feeds, White Oak Mills, and Franklin Feed & Supply Company.
